As part of the “Pink Camp” activities organized by the Alrowwad Society, the society held a breast cancer awareness day for women in collaboration with the Midwifery Department at Bethlehem University. This initiative aims to raise health awareness among participating women about the importance of early detection of breast cancer and preventive measures.
During this awareness day, a group of specialized midwives from Bethlehem University conducted sessions that covered an introduction to breast cancer, its symptoms, and the different stages of the disease. The sessions focused on changes that women should be mindful of and recognize as potential warning signs.
Practical training was also provided on performing breast self-examinations (clinical exams) with clear and simple steps, allowing participants to detect any unusual changes early. The sessions further emphasized the importance of regular check-ups and available preventive measures, with information provided about accessible medical services.
Additionally, the process of referral to hospitals and specialized healthcare centers was explained in case any signs requiring advanced medical examination were discovered, ensuring prompt and safe access to necessary care.
The participants expressed significant engagement with the workshop, appreciating the valuable information they received, which deepened their understanding of the severity of the disease and the importance of early diagnosis. Many participants noted that such workshops play a vital role in increasing their health awareness and boosting their confidence in performing self-examinations.
This event is part of a series of activities organized by the Alrowwad Society for Breast Cancer Awareness during “Pink October.” The society aims, through this camp, to support women and empower them with the knowledge and skills needed to maintain their health and enhance their abilities to address health challenges.
